Loyals Rifle Team
During my military service from 1959 to 1969 I was lucky enough to be selected for our battalion shooting team. The highlights of this were that I was in the team that won the Liverpool Cup for the years 1963, '64 and '65.
This team were the best marksmen from the 55,000 men in the King's Division and went on to represent the Division for these three years in the most prestigious shooting event in the world held at Bisley in Surrey, England.
The photograph below is one of a number that were published in the Lancashire newspapers each time we won one of the major competitions. These were always accompanied by a sizeable write-up of our acheivements. There were also times when it seemed that we were always in the Loyals magazine, 'The Lancahire Lad' during our time as the 'Top Gun' team.
This photograph was taken around 1967. I am researching in the local newspapers and hope to include a more comprehensive report later.
